Hello,

I'm in the market in purchasing an R3. A local store is selling an red/white 2015 R3 base price of $3989.00. I'll be financing the bike. I'll put a down payment between $1,000 - $1,500. Haven't decided how much to put on down payment as I would like to purchase some gears. After tax and docs fees, etc. total is about $6,500. Is this a good deal? The blue/silver and black for 2015 model is additional $300 more and the 2016 models are $4999.00. What would you recommend? This would be my first bike. Thank you

I'm curious as to how a $4000 bike becomes $6000-$6500 after Tax, registration, document and freight/prep fees.
It's should be $5k max if they're really charging $3989 for the bike. The math doesn't add up.

I bought my R3 from Rex at Thousand Oaks Powersports, $4800 OTD. 2015, blue and silver, no miles on the odometer. I understand Yamaha was running a promotion so you might not get that price again -- and I paid cash -- but my husband and I have bought several bikes over the years from Rex and we always get a great price.

If you don't know what some line item is, ask until you understand it. It's pretty funny sometimes!

They also give you a great discount on parts and service if you buy a bike from them. I got some levers, but they are too far away for me to have them do the service.

Rex knows the riding area really well and is fun to talk with about good local rides, etc. I have bought bikes from Simi Valley too. So, shop around! No ADM fees for you!!

ADM sounds like an administration fee or additional dealer mark up!
That's a huge mark up and total BS!

ADM is typically a BS markup that some dealers will add in to expand their profit. Feel free to ask them about the ADM fee but no matter what, you're being ripped off if you pay it.
They should drop that fee or you should walk. (Just my opinion)

I paid 5600 otd in NJ, where everything is expensive and I did very little negotiating. 4500 for bike, 1100 in other stuff.

Some guys are getting under 5k otd for 15s.

These were my fees and stuff.

I'd say $6500 is way over priced. Shop around don't even have to go in store. Google all the local shops you are willing to go to. See if they list the bike in stock inventory on there website. Usually there site will have a "Request a quote" button on the bikes page. Hit that and ask what's the OTD price.

I'm shopping for mine now and I've done this will all the reputable shops within a 45 minute drive from me. I've been quoted the lowest being $5200, highest $5800, from a total of 5 different places. Shop around don't take the first one you see honestly. They aren't hard to find brand new in shops.

Shop around and get OTD quotes. First place I went to wanted $6300 OTD for a blue R3. I walked, then called around and got quotes from other local dealers that week. Went back the following weekend to my first choice dealer, told them my lowest quote ($5350 OTD) and walked out with them matching that price.

It pays to compare BEFORE you walk into the dealer. I learned my lesson for my next bike.
