Just wanted to make sure, definitely just contamination then (need to clay bar it) I'm a pretty **** good detailer but wasn't sure if the bike plastics were different. I've fixed huge paint problems but didn't want to waste my time if that normal
@BluebirdR3 ; if you've never used a nanoskin mitt, I'd say give it a shot Much faster than clay barring, I'll never go back to a traditional clay bar haha

Bike wasn't dropped, half of the fairings are smooth (vertical sides) half aren't (contamination on horizontal surfaces), my buddy who works at a yamaha dealer checked it out for safe measure.

autogeek or amazon - go with the fine mitt, it's good for about 90% of contamination without marring the paint too badly. The only downside with the mitts is they have a bigger tendency to do some marring if you're not careful, just let the mitt do the work. Obviously you need to clean it religiously kinda like folding the clay while working with it, but I've never had it induce major problems nothing a tiny amount of polish wouldn't clear up.

Completed the MSF today successfully, I had some initial trouble with the weave, but finally got it down. I was much better at countersteering vs counterweight (although I'm porky lol). Definitely had trouble with the u-turn, I ended up completing the u-turn with a one foot touch (was only able to do it two times ) but the rest I did perfect.

I learned how to skid my rear tire several times this weekend - a little too heavy on the front brake, need to be more progressive, but I usually did pretty good in the quick stop. I think I only had a skid three times out of a total of like 15 quick stops as I was trying to threshold brake (but I was also doing 20-25 in quick stop most of the other riders were going slow as balls for this). It was great to know what it felt like and how to hold the rear skid, I had one time I didn't hold the skid and the back end come around a little bit, I got it stopped before anything bad happened, definitely learned a lot.


I still feel a bit apprehensive about riding, although with only 2 days riding experience I guess this is normal? Any of you other guys have the same gut reaction? A little nerve racking I'm on my own out there, but I had a pretty good time this weekend. Riding those silly Suzuki 250's made me appreciate the R3 ergos, I don't feel like I enjoy forward facing foot pegs.

You'll feel nervous for at least 400-500 miles for the average rider. Just stick with it and rack up the miles. Then you'll look fondly back on it one day when you think to yourself "I remember when I was always nervous..." You may even miss those days.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one then, I really want to ride but feel nervous, even after racking up about 17 miles in MSF it felt iffy. But it seems like all of those curves are much sharper (and slower) than your typical road which should require less steering input... I thought to myself maybe the fact I'm thinking this means out I'm not cut out for it? lol - I'm just nervous but anxious all at the same time. I wanted to do the MSF BRC2 with my bike but they don't really offer it around here... the colleges don't make enough money for them and won't really do those courses here which sucks.

EDIT: I meant to also say I'm sure this bike feels 100% more refined than the suzuki 250 I was on... It felt chunky and weird and I didn't really like forward facing pegs. The R3 feels more correct and natural, I'm sure that will go a long way to increasing my confidence.

Yeah, the apprehensiveness is completely normal. Like Jay said, give it some time and it'll get easier and much more comfortable.
For me, it hit around the 1500 mile mark and now I'm completely at home on the bike.
