Maybe my wording was wrong on that, but yeah I mean it makes it slower.

I dont think at slow novice pace that the steering damper is needed. It'll mask a lot of suspension woes. I usually start my days when setting up suspension without my GPR damper, then as I get a good feeling, put the damper on the bike. I leave the lowest setting on it as higher the setting more effort is needed to turn the bike. For the R3, only way to get a tank slapper is to go over a hill with too much weight on the bars, death grip or somethig like that. Proper technique will go a long way before a steering damper is needed.

My 2c.

This. Very important when you want to learn and know your bike. To me it's like a band-aid to proper technique.

I raced an SV650 with no stabilizer on it. The track I race at is pretty smooth though. Would get a little bit of a wobble on the front straight where there'd be a bumpy patch but overall it was meh. Thought I'd buy one for the r3 for the **** of it but decided against it. Its nearly impossible to get the front end off the ground at this track with power and its too smooth to require one.
