Rear brake upgrade advice.

I've decided to upgrade the rear brake. The front is not too bad, but I feel like you have to just about bend the brake pedal to get any real stopping power out of the rear. Would steel braided line help? What about different kind of brake pads? Which ones? I do commuting and touring mostly-no track riding.

The rear is near useless... I don't know why you want to upgrade it.

Sportsbikes favor the front brake for stopping, you'll never get great stopping performance from the rear- it'll just lock up.
Have you bled the rear brake?
