There could be some truth to this 320cc bike rumor. Seems like Yamaha is set to stage a surprise appearance for the European and North American version of the YZF-R25.

Indonesian blog TMCBlog says that the R3 is expected to surface as a 320cc bike. It would have an edge on both the upcoming Honda CBR300R and the existing Kawasaki Ninja 300.

Check out this AutoEvolution article about it.

If that's true then this will be one even more highly anticipated bike than originally thought out to be

AutoEvolution brings nothing new to the table, they rehash what TMC already said and then try to justify it by using the known fake I4 250cc rumour. That is shoddy journalism if you ask me.

I think I might rather a bit more effort put into the suspension of the R3 than I care about an extra 20cc. What do you gain from an extra 20cc, a horsepower and a half? Seriously...

Its for squid shoppers who buy on specs not on feel, I don't really think Yam is worried about the KTM. They're very niche and dealer/service networks are FAR too sporadic to make them legitimately viable.

KTM may have less dealerships in NA but in other areas they are really picking up steam. Yamaha would be foolish not to consider them a threat.

Sure the 20cc may be playing to people who are only interested in numbers, but those people buy motorcycles, so why not focus on them?

KTM is not as robust a company as the Big Jap 4. I didn't say KTM was not a threat, I said they sell in low volume. Focusing on a low volume is like arguing with stupid, you only get brought down to their level and trounced on experience.

As for the second the bike is not being made fundamentally better, If everyone focused on spec shopping squids we'd have 1000cc engines in rigid frames with bicycle tires and that was that. Those are not people you build loyalty and a brand around, they will be off after the latest trick as soon as the latest trick comes along. Its the same as the first, arguing with stupid and losing out to experience ;)
