415 Chain and sprockets

6293 Views 10 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  JimGnitecki
Anyone know if anyone is offering R3 sprockets of the 415 non-oringed variety? The front sprocket is the sticking point. More difficult to have made that the rears, apparently. Used such stuff on my Ninja 250 and the lighter weight and less "rolling" resistance makes a big difference in power to the wheel. AfterMarket Cycles is working on it but nothing yet. Any info? Thanks.

You can also add your email to my blog if you want to get an email whenever I post a new article. I'm working on a lot of race and track related testing for the R3:

Once you have the kit you can buy replacement Tsubaki 415 SHT chains as needed here:

Much cheaper than the DID chain ($52.95 vs. $90.00) and they have a tensile strength of 5,280 vs only 4,540 for the DID chain.

Those Tsubaki chains are only 120 link unfortunately, so you need 2 of them to fit the R3.

Good catch! The shorter pitch/link length, pin to pin, of 415 chains would mean the Tsubaki would be too short.
Started my conversion tonight and realized I don't have a 29mm socket (got a 27 and 30 - nope, so tried a 1-1/8", but not quite there), so looks like tomorrow I'll make a trip to the tool-type store place and add to my tool empire. I also noted the stock chain is non-master link - good thing I had my trusty angle grinder and chain-breaker. Happy to post photos if someone wants.

I know it's an old thread, but was searching around to find out the size (wasn't sure if it's a 29 or 30) and I'm realizing the same thing now. Who the **** uses a 29 mm nut?? My set of larger sockets doesn't come with that. I have some individuals I bought before, around that size but no 29! Now I gotta make the trip to the store too lol
This was a GREAT catch. Like you said, who would expect THIS??

Thanks for the warning!
