Anyone get some Vesrah, Galfer, Vortex, EBC or other brake pads? If so, what kind-sintered or organic? How do they feel? Nice bite or smoother feel over OEM? Figuring out which ones to pull the trigger on.

Racing or street, commuter or canyon carver....it depends on how you plan to use them. Racing pads work best when hot, so not so good for non-race use. Talk to you local bike-shop guy. He can hook you up.

Sintered pads are a huge improvement over the stock organic pads I think Yamaha stock pads stop poorly and it's their version of abs as they are impossible to lock the front wheel unless you have a gorilla grip. Found some HH sintered pads out of Taiwan on EBay Will let you know how they work. $19 plus $9 shipping. Have a look.

You would rather take $19 pads over the OEM ones? Nothing against anything made I'm Taiwan, but why did you pick these? Only because anything is better than OEM or did you find any reviews from other people stating they are actually good? I didn't like my stock pads at first and replaced the entire caliper with an R6 one. After putting the stock caliper and pads back on, I found the brakes to be better than when I first owned the bike. Proper bedding in and brake fluid flush probably helped. I think my opinion also changed when I found there is a racer racing on stock pads and caliper. There's even a pick of him doing a stoppie on said set up. Jason Madama is his name I believe. While I do like the initial bite of HH pads better than a more progressive one, I wouldn't go as far as to say the stock ones brake poorly. Just differently.

If you've ever raced Hammer you'll realize, he doesn't ever use the brakes... lol, so I dunno if I'd take his opinion on brakes as gospel hehe, ask a slower person, like me, who uses my brakes more :)

I run Vesrah pads and love them, much better initial bite and feel than stock pads and I have better control because I don't have to squeeze so **** hard for the brakes to work.

But yeah, I've also noticed, the stock pads take A LONG TIME to bed in properly, and they do work better once bedded in.

Do you need to rotor hone before swapping out the pads? I have <150 miles, haha

I just used a green scuff pad and cleaned the rotor really well with brake kleen.

I've read somewhere in here that they're good. How's the wear? and what is its character? i'm looking for something more powerful for those track days we have..

Fantastic, much better stopping power. Better feel. Quicker wear than oem, should still last a while if not used track ONLY

thanks for the feedback guys. The only brands that I have seen locally available are Bendix, Vesrah and Elig. I'm kinda leaning towards the Vesrah at the moment. Are there different kinds for the R3 (i.e. soft, hard, etc)?

Has anyone improved an abs version with the best sintered pads?

And did it bite harder then let go?
Or more progressive?
