If so, what kind of mount? DIY fabricated? Store bought?

What kind of GPS or do you just mount your phone? I have reservations about putting my iPhone6S on my bike unless I know it's really secure and I have yet to find a compelling mount?

Anyone mount a radar detector? My deceased bro (R.I.P. bro) was my de facto bike mechanic and electronics installer. I am an IT guy but my brother was an auto/bike alarm and car stereo whiz which he did to earn $ while in College.. He did a lot of my stuff and while I learned from him, I don't know how to do wiring well. He was a self-taught mechanic and far superior to me. I was decent working on my scooters and dirt bikes growing up but working on newer fuel injected and modern engines is a different animal.

I want to eventually get or make some mounts and get dedicated power running to them. Newer radars arent just for speed, they alert you to other hazards and dangers like red light cams, etc.

Someone did a RAM mount tutorial there but seem too complicated for my level of DIY at the moment lol.........

I would NOT put an iphone 6s on the bike mount if I was you. Even simple scratch would lose hundreds of dollars and hassle to replace it just not worthwhile IMO.

I got an old garmin GPS laying around and planning to do a 12V outlet mod + a simple mount on the handlebar

Even if you don't get an old GPS laying around, it's like $70 on ebay slightly used(no one use them anymore because of phone nowadays). I would not feel too bad compared to lose a 600dollars phone compared to <$100 investment(12v mod+mount+gps). It's simple direction thing to see if you are in the right direction IMO. If you don't really get a good sense of direction and constantly get lost...... having a phone in front of your face for constant navigation maybe a distraction for you as well

Too busy to do it this month I only got 3days off til the end of the month, probably my next project before thanksgiving
