ATLAST!!!!!! I got my R3

3971 Views 20 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  R3RIDER
I have been a member for couple of months here but I was able to get my dream fulfilled today only. Several times I thought that I will not be able to get this bike. I could only believe it only after I got the key from the showroom. This bike costs 4 times the cost of my previous bike, even that bike (220cc) is considered extravaganza here.
I really want to thank my wife for supporting my craziness. This is the first R3 purchased from my city. :D

When I came back home it was peak traffic time and the bike did heat up since I was running in 1st and 2nd gear.
I was getting a burned smell from the front side I think, any idea about that? Please advice.

Congrats on the bike. The burning smell is pretty common on brand new bikes so I wouldn't worry too much about it. As log as it isn't smoking up or anything you should be fine. I am going to guess if you stopped riding and took a whiff, the smell would be coming from the radiator?
Welcome from England.

Thank you.

Yes, it's coming from the radiator I think. Hopefully it's fine then. :)

Same here. The first 200-300 miles you'll smell a plastic-y type smell after you ride. Made me a little worried at first, but it's normal.

Thank you for confirming. :) Phew...
Those clear slim turn signals look great. We get big fat ugly orange ones for stock.

Nice Bike! I really like how everyone else got round reflectors and clear lens signals but we have the long rectangle reflectors and large orange/amber signals here in the USA. Congratulations! I am also interested in the tires your bike came with, info on brand and type?

Yes, I found that this is common in US in many bikes. Here both types are there but my previous bike has clear as well.
I'll miss the self cancelling turn signal lights very much from old bike.

Thank you! I think this is the standard in India for R3 (round reflector and clear lens signals). MRF Zapper S tyres for India. It's more ecnomical than Metz in Duke since it lasts more.

We get one ugly thing with our bikes as per law. It's called Saree Guard for all bikes, as you can see in the picture. R3's looks like a barbecue grill.

some more pics

Just adding some more pics. Went to our Cathedral for a prayer straight from showroom. Some people were asking about the price on the way, mostly young guys. At first look people will mistaken this for Yamaha R15 (150cc) but suddenly they will realize that this is something else.

Hey snoopy, where are you from in Quebec? I'm in Ottawa and looking for other R3 owners to ride with. If you're close by we should meet up sometime!
Just some modifications. Thanks Fangshui for the RIM tape idea.

Congrats man. I was in the same boat-I was a member here before I got my R3. I had my 2003 Honda CBR600RR, but didn't put it on the road this past year and sold it. Was able to find a used R3 for about $2000 less than the OTD price here in NY right before I was about to head down to the dealer to buy a blue R3. Was torn between the Raven and the Blue. Love my Raven R3 but get jealous of the blue sometimes. It just pops in pics!

Yeah, the burning smell is normal as the guys told you. Also, I think these stock brake pads are a bit funky smelling. Going to replace them soon with some Vesrah, EBC, or Galfer pads.
I like that windscreen! Would you mind posting a pic from a bit further out?
