New to riding (started last summer) and I've noticed a SIGNIFICANT increase in near misses from birds on my bike over my cars. I even hit a small bird the other day (sparrow maybe?).

Is this a thing? Do bikes attract birds?

I'd say if anything, you're just harder for them to see and judge your speed and point of impact

Bees tho.. that's a different story for me at least.. ten years ago I had a yellow R1 and every time I got stuck at a red light, if there were any bees in the area, they would start landing on my tank.

I logged in only about 10k miles and I had just one near miss bird strike. So, I don't know. But oh man when that bumblebee hits your bare neck.
