Buying used R3, need help with cost of fairing replacement.

Hey everyone,

I went to see a used Yamaha R3 today, it has been dropped in the parking lot onto a curb and there was scuffs/scratches made to the two fairings indicated in the picture.

I have been trying to find the cost for the replacement but I am finding the diagrams very difficult to figure out exactly. Could someone help me figure out the cost to get the bike back to stock and let me know how much this should affect the price of the bike.

Thanks!

I've searched and haven't come across any replacement or aftermarket fairings yet. Unless purchased from the dealer which we all know will be over priced.
I've emailed monster fairings but they never replied. I'm sure it's coming and I'd definitely buy a set from them. Waiting is the hardest part.
ProCaliber.com has the parts listed with prices.

hmm people are already selling used r3's. just curious do you know how long the previous owner had it for and the miles?
Per the srvc. manual, the parts in question are called Front Bottom Cowling and Front Side Cowling Assy. The side assy includes turn signal, inner fairings and all clips and hardware necessary to install. Sadly, they don't offer any p/ns. Sorry I can't be of more help.
These are for brake-side only as shown. If you needed clutch-side, the parts numbers are different:

1WD-XF83M-40-P0 (P0 black/P1 blue/ P2 red)- larger piece
1WD-F8395-00-P0 (only black)- smaller piece

Just enter those numbers into google to find your lowest price. I wasn't paying too much attention but U.S. prices are around 75 and 55 respectively.

Hey, just curious. How did you get these part numbers?
Many people are selling fairings from brand new or very close to brand new bikes that get converted to track bikes. If youre looking for fairings in black, I havnt seen many of them recently but definitely browse through the forums and you should be able to find fairings for sale :)
Pro-Caliber has parts and diagrams to help you figure out what you need and what you will be getting with your purchase. Should be under $150 shipped for the parts you need.

In my area, R3 is selling like dope. I heard a rumor that the R3 is Yamaha's #1 selling bike. Only seen a few up for sale on the used market. One was dropped and scuffed up, the other one's were priced too high. So it looks like most of the new owners are keeping them. I never see any running around my city when I am out and about. I notice other bikes when I am out on the road. Even when I am in my car. I make a mental note of what sportbikes I see. The make, model, and year if I recognize the color/graphics. I mostly see R6's and older Suzuki600 and Kawasaki's. I did see a white Ducati Panigale with red wheels around a week ago. It was either an 899 or the new 959. I wanted to stop and look at it, but I was stuck in traffic in the far opposite lane.

+1 on procaliber.com. They're pretty much always the cheapest, have free shipping for orders over $99 and have 12 warehouses around the U.S. that they ship from, so orders arrive very quickly.
Here's all of the Raven color fairings, I was bored at work one day and figured out all of the colors in case I wanted to switch colors.

Same here, I clipped a roundabout last night and scuffed up the front left silver fairing, bottom black fairing and engine cover. Does anyone have an idea on where to get these parts (that is in or posts to Australia)?
Don't be afraid to try to purchase a full set from a racer converting their bike. Keep the ones you need and sell off what you don't. If shrewd, you might be able to reduce your net cost to a very low amount.

Hi,

Please tell me the clutch-side the parts numbers.

My bike was dropped in parking lot. There were small rocks, badly damaged the clutch side parts. My gear lever is also bent.

It is a month old lightning black r3.
