Ok i tried the one on the last link. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Right-Engin...m35f92fd517:m:mDn8bPfOYd-Myp6ey0xENMw&vxp=mtr) i bought 1 left 1 right, left works perfectly, the right one was a pain the butt hole.

On the right side, one of the screw is mounted on i'm not sure what component it is but when i took out the screws coolant was leaking all out. I quickly installed it, and once i start my engine the coolant leak faster than i pee. Installed it with and without rubber washer and nothing works so i only have the left side installed. I was considering to give the item in the first link a shot soon. All the others IMO looks rather hideous (The 4th link looks like really cheap inferior plastic. If i were to pay that amount i would rather get proper R&G guards)

All these anodized metal bits are too flashy for me. I bought a set of GB Racing engine covers, and I haven't tested them, but I'm not going to skimp out on engine covers since they can make the difference between you being able to limp home or having to tow it home. They are slightly more expensive than the ones you linked, but I went with it because it looks like they use the exact same molding as the OEM ones, so if you're comparing against the OEM ones, they're actually a great bargain. I was considering the R&G Racing ones, but decided I'd get one that sticks closer to the OEM design since I figure Yamaha knows what it's doing.

I've nothing against stuff made in China. I have owned Chinese clip ons for one of my 650's but after watching this, I am probably going to stick to brands with known good QA, so they don't break from just riding. I know we are here talking about engine protection, but here is a video with clip ons made in China that broke just from riding. Things like bar ends, lever guards or clutch covers, I probably would buy from China. Things like a master cylinder, clip ons or clutch, probably not.

If it moves, or is critical to your safety, I'd recommend going name brand. Odds are that it is still made in China, but at least the qc should be much better.

Cosmetic parts are fair game. I've bought bar end mirrors, tank pads, decals, etc without issue. I bought Jesse's levers though, because I'm not taking the chance on them breaking when I need them.

Yeah. I had a CNC brake foldable brake lever and it claims to fold during a fall so that it will not break... mine just broke off into 2 pieces. Wouldn't put too much faith on these china manufactured products

China made off brand anything is RARELY worth the value of the raw materials.

Think to yourself what could be damaged/destroyed by a failure of the part you want to put on. Is saving a couple dollars buying China junk worth the risk of ruining your _________?
