So the newly updated R125 just got a digital readout, Nornally I would say its a foregone conclusion that if the lower spec bike gets it the higher spec one will as well. But this might not be the case. Consider that the R25 show bike had an analog readout, and then consider that costs saved on a digital readout could be migrated to a more performance oriented area of the bike....

I'm going to miss having an analog RPM gauge but the way this digital version is designed, i won't mind it, one of the better one's out their.

That looks like a nice digital cluster. I don't think that digital is necessarily better than analog. Both can work well, and there is a certain retro feel at this point to analog displays. I think its about how clearly the information can be displayed not whether its digital or not.

I think the cost savings between a digital display and an analog display are probably pretty minute.

Both can work well, I guess this was just part of Yamaha's decision to modernize it rather than sticking with traditional analog.

The digital does match the overall aesthetic of the bike more so than an analog set-up would. Its really the difference between a bike that is going for a modern-race bike look vs. a retro styled bike.

I know but my question is which do you think the R3 will have. The concepts wears an analog tach. Its not usual that higher tech goes into a production version...

But can yamaha really sell a digital tach on the lower spec model and not offer it on R3?

it is in terms of which YOU like best, but personal preference plays no role in which Yamaha decides to sell the R3 with, unless they offer it as an option which is just odd...
