Fuel consumption

Hello everyone, I'm new to these forums. Just recently bought the Yamaha R3 2015 for this season.
When I was choosing a bike, among the other things I'd been attacted by fuel efficiency of R3 bikes. And to my surprise, my bike's fuel consumption is really terrible! Around 10-13km per litre (28mpg), while other owners say that it should be like 22-25kmpl (54mpg).
And there is one more thing, the bike rpm could randomly drop down while idling to almost halt, not much often though. Once or twice a ride.
I'm not sure what is the problem. I had changed the oil right after the purchasing. Changed the air filtre too. This model does not have a carburator, which usually could be blamed for almost everything bad happening in the world lol.

Mine is brand new and makes 17kmpl. I think 22-25 is too high even if you don't accelerate it too much. But 10 I think is not good.
My 2015 R3 consistently gets 55 mpg.

Any ideas of what could be the reason behind this dreadful consumption? O2 sensor is dead which makes ECU use some default parametres?
I am driving like an old man, 5k rpm = shift gear and still have this problem. I can only guess what will be the comsumption if I rock out.
I've ordered OBD2 to yamaha 4 pin adapter. Perhaps, it would help to find out what is wrong.
Are you calculating your fuel efficiency by hand or taking it off of the dashboard?
Yea thats VERY low unless you are running it **** near redline all day. I usually upshift at 8k on street and i get 55-65mpg based on the dash.

off the dashboard, where is the average parametre shown.

that is the point. my driving style doesn't correlate with this wicked consumption.
and I can not jsut take the bike to the official yamaha service zone, since yamaha has left russian market (we all know why). my last hope is to get the yamaha 4 pin -> obd2 adaptor from the aliexpress and try to scan ECU for errors. I bet there s something wrong with the O2 sensor, since I've frankly no effing idea what could be wrong with the injector engine.

Try calculating it by hand and see if it's any different. Dashboard might just be terribly off.
Have you changed the gearing on the bike? That can make a huge difference.

Okay, I will.

I haven't. Though I'm not sure if previous owner didn't do that. I bought the bike off the japanese auction.
I ran through a tank of gas on a trip down to my parents' house yesterday. For reference, I got 29.46 km/l (69.29 mpg).

That was just cruising for the most part, mostly in sixth gear.

Remove a sparkplug and check the condition and color of the electrode. It should be tan colored. If it is black and sooty your engine is running too rich which means something is wrong with the fuel inection.
Let me revive the topic. I have managed to calculate the consumption using the grandfather's manual method. I got the tank full, reset the mileage counter, and checked the mileage afterwards during the next refill several times.

It turns out that the average city consumption is roughly 52 mpg, and outside the city, it's around 94 mpg.

So, I made a conclusion that my consumption is perfectly fine, and the only thing I should blame is dense city traffic with a whole lot of traffic lights.

Thanks for all the advice, guys.
94mpg? Are you even reaching 5000 rpm? lol

That is pretty impressive. It's better than I managed with my GN250 back in the day.

You can get quite fuel effective even with high rpm. The thing is in avoiding quick accelerations and overall driving like your grandfather lol.
