Hey yall!

I'm new to the forums. I have been looking for the past few months on replacing the stock front turn signals, and to be honest I am not sure which ones are the best. I like the look of the TST Industries flush mount turn signals, but I am afraid that they won't be visible enough to cagers. And safety above all else for me, including aesthetics. I have also like the R&G racing signals, and they have good reviews. But what justifies the price tag? I am a little lost here, and riding season is starting here in Bama!

Thanks guys

TST or any of the cheap flushmounts are essentially like removing your front lights. People waiting for you to turn right no longer see the blinking. Especially old people.

Get some of the Watsen led fronts or get something that protrudes out.

Budget flushmounts if you dont want to waste money and just try them. Same quality.

Rears: These are DOT approved, have all the proper resistors and connectors, and mounting plates.

The factory Yamaha LED signals are very bright and are worthy of replacing the rears and some have put these on front and back.

Thank you for your response! I haven't looked at the Watsen Design signals before. They seem a bit pricey. And would they have the same visibility from the side as the do from the front being flush mount? (sorry I can't link, I don't have enough posts on the forums yet) And I definitely will be getting the Factory Yamaha LEDs for the rear.

I do not own them yet myself just have them on order. Seemed the best compromise between flush mounting and visibilty so far.
The prices are canadian and we end up paying much less after conversion rates.

I ordered an extra set and will be selling them here on the marketplace once I have them.

I had these on my bike briefly

Make sure you install the included resistors on the rear turn signals even if you get a Flash relay.

If you get the watsen design with the resistors installed you wont need the relay. The stock relay will work fine.

After posting my last reply I watched a few videos on them, and they are pretty bright. They do seem like they're worth the money.

I know I seem overly cautious but in Bama people do not share the road or respect motorcycles. So I want to take every precaution necessary to enjoy this awesome lifestyle, while still coming home to my kids!

I do, however, find Watsen Design's website to be difficult to navigate, but i'll poke around some more to see if I can find the ones that come with resistors installed.

I lived in Birmingham for a year. You have it just fine over there. Well I guess they might not respect bikes like they do here.

The FZ-09 version has the resistors and connectors installed by default and at no extra cost.

The universal fit you just ask for Yamaha connectors for $5 as an option when you order.
Resistors are included
That cannot be seen unless site is open for orders.

I love the look of the TST flush mounts but they are not very bright at all, and I do worry about visibility. Watson design is definitely the best flush mount option, but they are quite expensive. I think any of the cheaper chinese aftermarket signals would be fine. They wouldn't be any brighter than the TST flush mounts but they would at least be sticking out, which helps visibility a lot. I have a pair of those for my rear. I don't mind my front signals being harder to see since even if other people aren't paying attention to my direction, I can at least pay attention to them. I wanted to make sure I had something visible in the back b/c I wan't to make my intentions clear to people behind me since I can't account for them as easily as vehicles in front of me.

I see now how they do ordering periods, that is unfortunate. I guess I'll shop around online and see if I can buy a set that someone is selling second hand. I do like those!

Birmingham huh? Well it's a huge city and might be a little different there. I like about 50 miles west of Birmingham and in my little neck of the woods, people are too busy worrying about getting there faster while using their cell phones than motorcycles or anyone else for that matter.

Well, after further research it seems that not only is it going to be another 2 months until I can place an order with Watsen, but it also takes up to 6 months to receive them. So I'll have to try and find another set to use until then.

Here are some of the cheapest options I have in my bookmarks. If you want to save your money to put into the Watsens.

Some expensive Graves, never seen these on an R3 yet
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Grav...-Signals-R1-R6-FZ1-FZ09-/222032451356?vxp=mtr

You could order two sets of the Yamaha LED blinkers, they are good quality and safe then when the watsens are available you can sell them used for more than you paid for them. There are some photos of someone rolling them front and back and they look great. Just return them to the original packaging and they will sell here or on ebay in no time as availability is difficult from Europe.Great Britain.

If you want to seriously improve your rear visibility get a supabrake II brake light modulator. I see a drastic difference in people slowing down behind me. Freeway off ramps the most obvious. Cars are slowing down much much sooner. Night and day difference.
http://www.vizi-tec.com/supabrake-2/ You can find it on ebay. Easy no splicing install.

No running lights

FYI: You will lose your running light with the TST flush signal and you will need to get a flash unit to adjust the speed of the flash with new led. I found a link to make all light like this be able to get the running lights to work. I ordered the part and will see if it really works on the R3. Its really dark at night with no running lights on facing the bike head on. I personal don't like not having running lights especially at night. I made a new Thread on it under Electrical

I'm waiting for the TST light with the Halo running light to be available in the near future. Not soon

I have tst fronts and back, I will be picking up the halos when they come out. The tst do come with a rubber extender if you want them to protrude more. You do not get running lights with these :/.
I live in the Bay Area California, here turn signals do not mean anything. I now rarely signal in a car or motorcycle. People don't signal here (even police/ in front of police) . Best of luck with your signal hunt, anything flush mount will be less visible than a large extended signal

Guys the TST video has the wires mixed up. If you reverse them you have blinkers and running lights.
They have it correct, if you do it this way you'll notice that it flashes opposite of your rear signals. When you install different LEDs in the back you'll have issues with your signal light on your speedo staying on and the front signals will stop working because it thinks you have a break in the system. I had this issue already since I was running a different setup and wire colors were opposite.

The pictures show exactly what they are $2 chinese crap.

The custom leds on my R1 aren't even 10x brighter from Greggs Customs.

I have pics and videos that prove otherwise.

Made a video showing running lights working with no dash constant on.
Not sure if I have something done wrong but everything is working as intended.
I eliminated dash half lit constant on by installing the Yamaha factory resistors included with my rear kit.

10x brighter. You be the judge. You cant even see the $#!^ in my garage let alone on the street in direct sun.
As soon as my Watsen designs are delivered these are going in a drawer never to be used again.
