Yes, he was! Total damage was $3500 so far. Just went back before Christmas because the front forks were bent and shop never test rode it.Welcome from England hope the kid was insured.
Whoa! - they rebuilt a wrecked bike and gave it back to you without even test riding it? Hmmm....Yes, he was! Total damage was $3500 so far. Just went back before Christmas because the front forks were bent and shop never test rode it.
We all need to meet up, Werder I swear we live like 10 mins from each otherYou're getting close to the original cost of the bike....
Are you making any upgrades in the rebuild?

Nah, its an all stock fix. All I paid was the $500 deductible. You're getting close to the original cost of the bike....

Yeah, its a little sketchy. The first time I went to pick it up the shop didn't replace any fairings, clutch cover or rear plastics. So I told them what to fix. Second time I go pick it up, trailer it home, take the trailer back, come back for a test ride and the handle bars are WAY off. If you let go of them you were going right. Trailered it to a different shop and they did me a favor and took a quick look at it on their 10 min break so I didnt have to pay the 200 break down and the front forks are bent from the wreck. Not to mention the front tire is an 1 3/4" off from center. Called the insurance company and complained that I didnt feel safe with the shop and I'm tired of paying trailer fees to drive an hour to get it back and forth. Dude said it had to go back to the first shop. Long story short the whole fork is being replaced. Hoping next week it should be done so I can tear into it myself and do my clip on and LEDS. My old man is gonna test ride it for me before it even leaves the shop. (just had a plate and pin put in my right wrist) I think they would of totaled it if they would of know the first time the amount of damage there was. I'm sure they got to much in it now not to fix it.Whoa! - they rebuilt a wrecked bike and gave it back to you without even test riding it? Hmmm....
Agree with Werder in that it's curious why insurance company didn't just total it.
Hope it all works out, and Welcome!!
We won't be doing much riding with the snow coming this weekend! But a buddy and myself own a small shop/group and we have a few events coming up this year. We are gonna do a charity ride from Sandy Hook to Wildwood in Sept for Roar to the Shore. We all need to meet up, Werder I swear we live like 10 mins from each other
Yea - very close. Just haven't ran into each other yet. There is another red R3 sometimes parked at the Charlie Browns on 541. That one is not me...We all need to meet up, Werder I swear we live like 10 mins from each other
Jay - where were these pics taken? Is that near point pleasant? Here's some of before
Nah, The water pictures are at the Manasquan Reservoir and the accident pictures are at Freehold Raceway Mall. I used to work in Point Pleasant though.Jay - where were these pics taken? Is that near point pleasant?
I work up in Bergen County. Hawthorne to be exact. I heard that bear mountain was a blast! Waiting to get my clip on's and probably do the rear shock also before I head up there! I cant wait to get back on the bike. Really itching to ride. With this foot of snow they are calling for this weekend it pushed me picking the bike up another weekendWhat's up from Brooklyn! Welcome and glad you're ok. "There are those who have crashed and those that will." Gotta watch out for those tri-state area drivers-they're nothing in between. On the road here, there are either the diametrically opposed "skilled" drivers or the oblivious, overly skittish, hesitating, and unskilled drivers that are the absolute worst ones-they think they're being safe but just aren't. My ex-GF was from Jersey. She lives in Franklin Lakes. I used to drive or ride on 17 and 4 a lot in Bergen county-ugh. What a cluster duck.
Doesn't look to bad at all. Still, it can fall over and still cost $1000. :-( Glad she is being rebuilt! Welcome to zee R3 forums.
I thought I knew where those pics were taken. Thought it was off of the Palisades on the riverfront earth dock-Ross Dock picnic area. Don't know the Manasquan Reservoir. For those not in the NY/NJ metro area, the Palisades goes up from northeastern NJ into NY juxtaposed along the cliffs of the Hudson River at varying intervals and into the mountains of Palisades and Bear Mountain parks-it is one the most scenic and beautiful rides ever. It is the perfect Sunday ride.
Here is a sample of the ride. This is right off of the Palisades going into Palisdaes Park toward Bear Mountain.
