Hit a deer yesterday...

Title says all. I was not even a mile from my house and was making a turn onto a backroad residential area before the main street in town and two deers bolted out of a neighbors property. I was going approx 25 and about to accelerate more and i see the deer run behind me and then the adult deer ran right into my front wheel/fender. Fortunately i gripped tight and flung the deer off to the left, the deer flipped in the air and i slammed on my breaks. Didnt even drop the bike, and appears to be no damage... I was very fortunate that nothing bad happened, but this should be a lesson to me and to everyone. No matter how good you are at riding, anything can happen and you have to be ready for it. Riding is not for the weak. >:D

That kind of interaction usually doesn't go well - glad you managed to dodge that bullet. You must be living right!!
I'm fortunate to have some great canyon/mountain roads here - but, there are lots of blind corners and I've had the opportunity to see moose up close and personal a couple of times while at speed. No direct contact, but close enough to pucker up.
Nice save. I threaded my way very slowly through three bucks in a driveway one night. They eyed me nervously ... I eyed them nervously ... but they held their positions and I held my line and we all lived to see another day. (This is probably the most compelling story I will ever tell online. Hope you guys enjoyed it ... ;))
Forum mod over at 600cc hit a large deer couple weeks ago on a heavy bike and didn't manage to stay upright

Kept it on two wheels after that.... Id be buying a lottery ticket
Guy on our local (Wisconsin) forum has hit three deer with the same bike. He calls it the "Deer Spear" :D He has never dropped the bike either. It is a BMW R1100S sport tourer.

Haha i drove the bike for another 3 miles after that, i shouldve stopped to get one. Thanks for the responses guys, this was defiantly a shocking experience but now ill be ever more vigilant on the road watching out for stuff.. Sorta sucks how fun motorcycle riding is, yet simple things like this can ruin your biking career or even your life..OH well im gonna keep riding :D

Holy Cow! I had this flash through my mind just two days ago. Was riding up in the canyon going maybe 50ish, saw the yellow sign w/deer off to the right. Instantly my mind thought "that would be totaly f*****" if one jumped out. Glad you're okay and glad one didn't.

I commute in deer country and always try to follow another vehicle and stay at the back of the pack to have some blockers up front to pave the way.

@Joseph Infante , Where was this? I know you from New Jersey as well, but I've only usually seen the deer buck abound by Princeton or Franklin.
This was in Ringwood NJ , its a small woodys town and the deer are sort of all over the north jersey woods.
