Install ABS Possible?

Hello. I'm just wondering, is it possible for us 'non-ABS R3' to install OEM ABS?

Thanks!

Theoretically, yes you could. ABS is computer controlled, though, so you'd have to somehow install the ABS computer componentry into your non-ABS bike, along with a myriad of different brake components. The only reason this might even be semi-feasible is because the R3 DOES have ABS in other parts of the world, so perhaps that would make an ABS upgrade more straightforward.

Realistically, it would probably cost as much as your bike and would never be worth it, so no. It would probably be cheaper to buy an ABS R3 from Canada and pay to have it shipped and imported, lol.

I threw this question out before and never got a response, so I'll try again:

Is the R3 ECU standard across all bikes (ABS or non-ABS)? In other words, will a non-ABS bike's ECU support the addition of ABS? Or - is it possible to reflash the ECU to allow ABS to be enabled?

There isn't an ABS option on the R3 in Canada. At least not in the 2015 or 2016 models. Maybe there are plans for 2017? Or there are ones elsewhere in the world?
If you've got the resources, it's possible lol.
2017 has ABS available. Probably cheaper to sell your bike and rebuy the 2017.
