Thanks !Nicely done. Did you do that on a lathe, a drill press, or are you just really comfortable with a cordless drill?
For the tap, a friend gave me the stock. The hole was made with a drill, but for the tap he recommended me to do it by hand so as not to break it. Use oil at all times. The dril is a simple Dewalt 20volts. Here is what I used:What size drill/ tap? I ended up snapping the tap in the bolt….. weird -was oiling too….
Is part of the tap still in the hole? Are you sure you drilled the correct sized hole for the tap size? Unless you have a power tapping head to put in a drill press I would only do this by hand as well. What size drill/ tap? I ended up snapping the tap in the bolt….. weird -was oiling too….
Yes - broke off in the hole…. Ordered a new bolt… will be doing again once I’m back home…Is part of the tap still in the hole? Are you sure you drilled the correct sized hole for the tap size? Unless you have a power tapping head to put in a drill press I would only do this by hand as well.
