U3 I don't think its legit, the article is dated August 9th, if it was legit I believe we would of seen the big motonews sites exploding. The fact that they use a mix of R6 photos and the concept R25 gives the rest of it away :D soon, soon ;):D

Lol, they're trolling. The bike described by those specs would be slower than the current R25 - why would they? There's no way Yamaha would release a 205kg R3 to compete in the new 300cc entry sport bike segment. My Ninja 300 is considered by most to be slightly porky at 174kg wet. Yamaha will want to get under that if possible to have a good shot at beating Kwakka's PTW ratio. If they can't, they need to go back to the drawing board.

Frankly, I'd expect the R3 to be within a couple of kg of the R25, given the two bikes will probably share 95% of their components. Edit: so expect the R3 to be about 166 to 170kg with a seat height about 780mm, mirroring the R25.

I'd be surprised if the difference is even that noticeable. Its most likely the R25 already designed with the R3 in mind, so I doubt there will need to be any geomerty changes to the bike, even slight ones like the CBR saw to go from 250 to 300.

I figure the displacement bump will come from an increase in stroke, I have to imagine Yamaha already worked the taller (marginally) cylinders into the R25s chassis construction...
