I kinda like them ... do they exist for R3? And then somehow the existing ones would be capped off.

Yes but the consensus early on was that they are junk: http://www.r3-forums.com/forum/554-electronics/54409-blinker-indicator-l-r-integrated-mirrors.html

I've been wondering myself if there are any better options out there.

To be honest, I was thinking of putting the TST flushmounts on the tops of my fairings, just to the left and right of my cluster. In fact, where the forward screw is, that's exactly where I was thinking of mounting them. It would be a good way to give extra side visibility.

You can get cheap but effective mirror block-off plates on eBay for $15. Comes in a variety of colors.

You could probably do this a lot easier w/ LED strips. You can put them anywhere. Fairings, frame, even under the headlights, and have them running or synch up w/ turn signals.

Theoretically you could put LED strips on the backside of the mirrors to mimic this, you'd just have to get crafty with the wiring.
I'd probably buy one new stock R3 mirror, and then start hacking on it to see if I could custom install wire + led + some lens cover ... a project for another day, maybe.

My right mirror is a bit scratched from a low side and I'm thinking about replacing it. If I ever do, I'd happily sell it to you for cheap to mess around with, if you'd like. That way you don't have to pay full-price for an OEM mirror and you don't have to worry about mutilating this one since its already scuffed!
What about putting turn signal LED strips inside the head lights? Has this beentry done before?
