New R3 owner/s in the land down under

Hi all!

So a bit about myself, although technically being a R3 owner on the contract the bike is actually my girlfriends first bike. We got delivery of it a couple of days ago and found this forum whilst hunting for ways to make it a bit lower for her. I'm 183cm and 120kg (6ft and 264lbs) whereas my girlfriend is 153cm and about 55-60kg (5ft and 120-132lbs) so she would like it a bit lower for her confidence.

I spent a fair while riding all the bikes that are legal for her type of licence and was amazed with the R3. Although not the most comfortable for someone of my size, it sure brought a smile to my face and I wanted to keep riding it even after we got back to the dealer on the test ride. So naturally a week later a blue one was in the garage :D

I ride a Honda CB900F (CB919 for North America) aswell as a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 classic and have done a lot of work on them and previous bikes so I will be doing a bit of work to the R3 depending on what the girlfriend wants (and what I can get away with >:D ), so looking forward to sharing my knowledge and borrowing some from the people on these forums :)

Welcome.

Try looking into riding boots with a good size heel for her. My wife is 5'1 with a short inseam and can very comfortably ride the r3 in her boots.

She does have good boots but that means that she can only ride with one pair of boots then. We have already tinkered with the preload to find a good height for her and based on other forum posts, I ordered the T-Rex lowering links so I can put it back to standard suspension settings. Will post up how they work when we get them :)
