Hello R3-Forum.com members. My name is Peter and the dealer I bought my R3 from was also named Peter! I happened to walk into the Capitol Yamaha dealer in Sacramento, CA. It was my one year wedding anniversary. My wife and I both like and ride motorcycles. I have not ridden in over a decade after selling my Ninja and was actually thinking of a dual-sport or dirt bike when I walked into the dealer. I have always been partial to Yamaha since I learned to ride on a '93 FZR 600 when I was younger. I saw the R3 Raven and have always bounced the idea of having a smaller and lighter bike. In about 20 minutes I put the down payment in and got the credit check. Went back home to pick up some cash for a larger down and was called around 3:30 pm. " Come at 4- 4:30 and your bike will be ready" I heard. GREAT!
Stopped by Cycle World close by and picked up a RX-Q Arai, picked up the bike, 7 Mile ride home and I am very happy with it. Got the 5 year extended warranty just because and now she is home.
Got on the internet and started shopping for parts, here is the list:
Akrapovic Racing SS Exhaust
Woodcraft Rear Sets
Vortex Racing clip-ons
BAZZAZ Z-FI Fuel ECU

I'll probably figure out a few more things but here are the photos!

You have a very nice ride. Be looking for a fender eliminator which will clean up the rear of the bike nicely,. I bought a blue/silver one, but all three color schemes look great. I especially like the red line stripe on the wheels of the raven and red/white bikes. Thinking of putting a similar stripe on the wheels of my bike.

Could help but notice that white bumper in your garage, looks like it belong to a japanese sports car? A Nissan?

Thanks COMOSS,
I just got back from a 35 mile ride and I am really happy with it, everyone thinks it's a R6/1 lol.

I have been driving Mazda RX7's for the last 22 years now. It's a 1989-91 RX7 front bumper.

Last week my 93 TwinTurbo was in the garage but I sold it and replaced the space with a R3! I still have 2 1990 RX7's.

You got the right color!
My brother from another mother! :D
I think the red rim tape seals the deal for me. Such a great looking bike. Excellent choice. :)

Like you, I wanted a light little powerhouse, and the R-3 certainly fits the bill. I had called Capitol, but when they took their time in a call back went to PCP and got a better deal. I'm happy...and quite happy with stock, except for the little tail piece. I hope never to sell, but if it ever came to it, a lot of potential buyers prefer an "unmolested" bike. Taking a ride tomorrow, and if interested let me know. Would be neat to get a little R-3 riders group in Sacramento...

Thanks GARav3n,
I am at 1850 miles now and like it more and more every time I ride. I think this one is around to stay.

Congrats! Love the Raven. I had the 05 Raven R1 for a few years. I think some better brake pads would serve the R3 well, just compared to my Ninja 300 because with the HH sintered-metal brake pads, the 300 feels like a 600 when I stop. The R3 just felt spongy and I think the stopping distance is almost dangerously long, especially considering its greater stock power.

The new clip-ons will likely give you a more aggressive position with more options to widen your grip if that's what you're after.

About to go for a ride before I finally start taking it apart for my full exhaust, switch to synthetic oil and get started on the other mods.
