Hey guys I have been waiting for this day for a very long time, I have picked up my Blue R3 today and I might also be one of the first person to be able to ride an R3 in Australia, So far I am loving it but the weather is really cold but I still put on about 50km in 3hrs of owning it

Congrats.

The dealer I have speaking with can't give any real indication of when he will have a bike in showroom; and I need to sit on one before I commit (I am 185 cm tall and want to check it isn't too tight / cramped).

He was saying this week, but he hasn't confirmed it; and I am becoming frustrated.
Ask around at a Yamaha dealer. That's where I got mine, I got it a week earlier then it's release date because I knew the guy that was working. I am about 165cm and the bike fits perfect, the power band is very impressive and I take corners like nothing, even though this is my first bike.
I think you will be OK. I am 6'2" (that's about 185cm right). When I started researching small bikes to replace my SR400, (I was tired of the kicking and wanted a button) I came across the R3, and thought it might be something I would like, BUT, I wanted to sit on one first, to see how it fit me. I didn't want to be leaning over much. Every one of the reviews I read or watched commented on how upright you are on the R3. I stopped by a local dealer and they had just received a R3. Just looking at it, I wanted it, but I asked if I could sit on it and that was it. I had me a R3 two days later. Bet you like it.

Thanks for that information; it is good to get some real world experience. 185 cm is between 6'1' and 6'2', so we are fairly close in height.

I am going to the dealer on the weekend.
Awesome, have you started thinking through what modifications you want to do?
I'm 5"6 or 167cm in height and the bike fits perfect, I have both feet on the floor but there is a bit of a lean for me but that's fine, I have put on about 200km and it's insanely fun, been taking corners a lot faster and get the abs version it makes life so much easier, people in the U.S. Without abs have been doing front flips off the bike. So just a little heads up !! My mods for the bike will be arriving this month which is. Fender delete, flush blinker turn signal, silver rim reflector and 6k HID. With a t5 bulb for the triangle light :)
Just a photo of my bike now but will upload once all the good stuff comes in
