Yamaha just announced a recall concerning a defective upper triple clamp. This is a continuation of the recall in Australia back in August. Dealers can be contacted to see if your R3 is one of the 16 or you can wait and see if you get a recall notice in the mail or via email.

This only affects 16 R3s so far, but these recalls can expand sometimes.....

Wonder if your bike is being recalled, do they provide a free loaner bike while yours is being repaired?

where would you see the serial number?

You would have checked and written it into the VIN number box on Page 10-1 of your owners manual.

And your dealer would have written it on page 1 of the Service and warranty booklet.

It's etched into the subframe under the passenger seat. The engine number is NOT the same - don't know what else they use these engines for. Page 10-1 of the manual has the blanks for you to write down all the relevant numbers, including the key tag number and "Model Label Information" which I have no idea what that's about.

Also it would be on your insurance cards and your title. :p

(And, not that it's an excuse for not looking in the manual before asking on a forum ... my dealer didn't even write the VIN number on the bill of sale, which made me awfully nervous about riding around before the title came and I got the plate switched over! But, small town, small dealership, they'd only gotten the bike in and prepped it the day before, and I was giving very strong signals about this isn't even remotely my first bike and can we get the paperwork over so I can go ride it. :D )

New steering locks and gas caps, but no mention of the passenger seat lock/helmet holder. Wonder if they're going to make people keep their old keys for that ...

That'd be annoying kinda to have to have two keys. I mean not a big deal but still.

I had someone stick a piece of safety wire in my ignition switch on my Majesty and I had to get another switch. I then had one key for the ignition and seat latch, and a second for the fuel cap and glove compartment. It's annoying as **** because the keys LOOK identical.
