The Japanese manufacturer has issued a recall for over 15,000 motorcycles in Japan, which includes the MT 250, YZF R25, YZF R25A, YZF R3 and the MT 320. There seems to be a problem with the oil pumps, transmission and front brakes as well.

There were 1,458 models of the YZF R3 that were recalled as well which had a problem with a flawed oil pump design. Apart from that, some of these also had faulty clutch plate bearings in the transmission. Constant use of the clutch might damage these bearings as they are not strong enough to take the load. Damaged clutch plate bearings will render the motorcycle useless. These R3 models were manufactured between March and May, 2016.

We already have 2 other threads for this topic ...
Yes.... Please post in one of the other two (links below) until we can merge them into one.

I only have permissions to clean up spam and ban the user, no permission to merge the two recall threads (now three). I did send a request to our other moderators to merge them.

"Transmission", eh? Why am I not surprised. :|

( Because it shifts like $hit. )
The gear shifting is operator error in most cases, the reason being that the gear shift lever is so close to the gearbox linage arm. I have heard other people say that it is possible to catch both the shifter and linkage arm due to it's close proximity. I also thought that there was a problem until I glanced down and seen the tip of my foot was also under the get box linkage. I since learned to keep my foot further out to keep this from happening.

I find it hard to believe that only three months worth of bikes will be effected by this potential recall in the US but it's my personal opinion that everyone is getting WAY ahead of themselves on this whole thing.

Until I get information from Yanaha, I'll just ride my bike and enjoy it. (BTW, I'm Jan 2016)

Not comforting while I'm half way through a trip 500 miles from home.

Parenthetically, the R3 did superbly on the trip. My posterior did not do so well, but that's to be expected.
