Our first batch of spy shots come to us courtesy of Indonesia. If you wanted specs this ones not for you, however we can now confidently confirm the existence the R3. We know its a Yamaha because of theMT-07 tail light lifted from a Yamaha parts bin...

See i find it interesting that the R3 has an MT-07 tail light, meaning Yamaha is trying to shave costs anywhere they can, which makes me feel like they're probably havy invested in the powertrain and suspension :D

Do you think that the R3 will actually use the MT-07 tail light, or is that just a thing for this test model to either confuse us or because whatever back end they are using isn't ready yet.

I just wish that we could get a spy shot of the front of the bike. I expect it to look pretty close to the concept but that is about the only part of the bike that we haven't got much of a look at in spy shots.

With the prototype running around streets a lot now, how much longer do you think that we will have to wait to see the R3/R25 in dealerships?

LOL.. Bird word is the P-Twin is called the 1WD.. I see it being a situation Like the CBR250 and CBR300. The only difference between R25 and R3 is likely to be the stroke and thats that. Although some of the indian blogs have speculated that the P-Twin would be the world market R3 and the Indian/Indonesian/Asian R25 would use a humble single...

Last summer Intermot Yamaha show cased their new engines. The one of the left is the three cylinder found now in the Fz-09 and the one on right a parallel twin which has yet to find its place in a chassis. Well, its been nearly a year so this could be me missing piece to the puzzle.

Barett is on the right path. At least now we have a engine code to work with.

I actually just speculated on that engine here http://www.r3-forums.com/forum/289-yamaha-r3-general-discussion/2034-r3-crossplane-crank.html

Story goes Yamaha wants a full gamut of crossplane engines, some of the indonesian blogs have been spitting out that R25/R3 could be the first to use the new family.

Oh and a few more spy's...
