Hi, the rubber strap is held in its place by a hook. All you need to do is remove the buckle end of the strap off the hook. Shine a flashlight towards the tail side of the rubber strap and you'll see where to un-hook it from. Good luck

jeeeeeeeeesus christ, I literally spent 30 minutes trying to figure this out before stretching the rubber band to one side and pulling the battery out, lmfao.
