Safety Wiring

For anyone who's done this already, what is the best place to attach the wire to for the oil plug and filter. I see a couple of interesting places I think I can drill through, but I'm wondering what others might be doing...

I use the K&N and a drilled plug - bad photo. I wired the two together so neither can rotate CCW.

Ah. I was considering that as well. Thanks!
I'm an airplane mechanic and while that is not a bad job, it's not great either. You want to wire it where if either tries to rotate CCW, it tightens the other. The wire should not be over the end of the oil filter like that. The oil drain plug is wired straight up to the filter. so if the filter tries to unscrew the drain plug won't do any assisting at all. It'll be pulling right on the safety wire.

Not bad, but that would never pass inspection for a Cessna.

You also ALWAYS tuck in that end of the safety wire. Bend it against the screw. You never leave it sticking out like that. You stick your hand in there to work and you'll jab the **** out of yourself. Notice in the diagram the end is tucked away.

This is the approved method.

I ended up going a different way and drilling some holes. I'll try to post pics later.
It ain't a Cessna.....
And at the Pro level, safety wire isn't even required - at Am level, safety wire is really only there to verify you torqued the fastener - never had an issue with FOD ingestion for the bike and it always passes tech. Point taken though. Danged airplane mechs....>:D

I've never safety wired an oil filter on a motorcycle anyway, but if you're going to do it, do it right, right? =)
Yeah, I wire my drain plug and filter together since they generally come off at the same time.
