Shoei Transitions Photochromatic Shield

Is anybody using one of these? I'm pretty new to motorcycles and all I have is a clear visor and I'm looking to purchase something for sun. My line of work tends to start and end in the dark so...is this worth it or should I just get a dark smoke and carry both with me?

Amazon has reviews but lets be honest...I trust those internet strangers less than I trust you internet strangers :D

If you can wear sunglasses, I'd just go with the clear and wear the glasses during the day - mainly because I'd tire of carrying two face shields pretty soon.
I have a transitions shield for my track helmet. I love it, and wish they made one for my street helmet. Last I checked they didn't. :-(

School us - how light does it go for night-time use? And how much dinero for the shield?

The shield is about $150 off Amazon...may be cheaper elsewhere. I'm pretty interested in the dark/lightness though for sure.

I thought about the sunglasses thing, but it's pretty humid down here and I've heard bad things about glasses fogging under the shield and as I'm pretty new that might cause some mild panic lol.

Completely clear for night or inside, nice and dark outside. I paid... 119.

I use the transitions lens for my Bell RS-1. Perfectly clear at night and tints when there is sun. It's not a super dark tint, in fact, I wish it was a little darker. It is perfectly acceptable though. I'd say from clear to darkest tint would take like 20 seconds, if that.

Only thing to consider is if there's things like tunnels or lots of shade. It takes a bit for it to transition (hehe) from clear to tinted and vice versa.

I'd assume if it's by transitions brand it works the same as transitions brand does for Bell.

call sportbiketrackgear. I am pretty sure I got it for like $70. They may have given me a deal on it since I bought the helmet at the same time. Regardless, they will give you 10-15% off if you order over phone.

I have transition lenses in my prescription glasses. They take a little time to change both darkening and clearing back up when entering a building.

When I ride in the evenings through the forests and clearings, sometimes I go from dark to full sun in an instant. I have never used a transitions shield, but I do use an internal sun visor in my Scorpion Helmets. They flip down with a flick of the left finger. I will never own another helmet without them. Highly recommend. Oh, and the inner shield does not hit my prescription glasses.
