If this information is already on this forum, I couldn't find it; has anybody been able to get a hold of the Yamaha factory optional solo seat cover yet?

I find it a little amusing that the search for a solo seat cover is invariably the first question that shows up on forums for new models like this.
Followed, of course, by questions about the availability of fender eliminators.
You'd think the manufacturers would have caught on by now.

The fenders are DOT mandated; yes, those ugly hangly-dangly things are the first to go. I cut mine with a coping saw back in the 1980s and thus made my own "fender eliminator".

The solo seat covers should come with the bike, but the $170.00 Yamaha charges is yet another way of them making money. I'm going to try to get the seat cover thrown in, but I doubt they'll do it.

IMO $170 is money well spent for improving the looks.

I just ordered a red solo cover from my dealership today for $119.99 plus sales tax. The tinted windscreen was also available for $59.99. That's in Marietta, Georgia.

For future reference, you can save yourself some money if you NOT buy directly from the dealer. Or even ebay. Most of the times, if not all the times, oem parts specialty shops online will always have the items for a cheaper price.

Usually its as simple as getting the part number, such as the raven cowl:
1WD-F47F0-T0-00

and google search it.

This is great advice, you just saved me ~$30! :nerd:

Does the solo seat cowl give you more room to store things?
Not really. There are several metal brackets on the cowl underside that get in the way of putting anything of any size under it. You can fit OEM tool kit in the little plastic tray, and maybe a phone, keys, etc.

No room for anything bigger.

Another note: since the gas tank cover is plastic, a magnetic tank bag won't work. You'll need either a strap mount bag or one with the quick on-off ring like GIVI & KAPPA's TankLock bags, or SW Motech's QuickLock have.

...and the phone would have to be a smaller one than my LG G3 in an Otterbox. Iphone 6plus? Mega II? Note4? Forget it! I may have to cut the extra metal out of the solo seat bracket just to barely fit a phone and small wallet in the tray. I'll leave the tool kit at home; I have AMA Road Side Assistance!
