Solo Seat Cowl On Red R3

My seat cowl arrived at the dealer this afternoon and it looks great on the R3.
The fit is actually pretty good. Much better than the solo seat cowl I bought from Yamaha for my FZ6R....and it cost over twice as much!

Does the right side of the cowel have a larger gap than the left on yours? For some reason mine and another member have noticed this. Wondering if everyone else is getting the same results..

So much cleaner without that giant fender!
Looks sportier with the fender eliminator and the new cowl. Both those mods work.

I'll check this afternoon.
Could the lock be pulling more on the left side than the right and making it sit a little crooked?
The worst fit I've ever had was on a Ninja 250. One side of that seat cowl was a good 3/4" higher than the other side. Nothing I tried ever seemed to make it fit much better.
I know the lighting is not the same in both pics, but this is a left and right side view of the seat cowl.

On mine, the right side is just a tiny bit higher than the left side. It's hard to tell unless you look closely.
It does look like water can get under the cowl during a heavy rain or when you're washing the bike because of the gap between the rear of the cowl and the black piece that holds the taillight.
The passenger seat may have been the same way, but I never noticed if it was or not.
Just received my red r3 cowl. Lock is really tight to get off. I'm hoping that loosens a bit with time once the rubber pads seat in. Question to cowl owners, how does the tool kit attach to the cowl? Looks like a bracket is there for the rubber band but no way to attach it? Also, looks like no helmet lock either! I was disappointed with that because I use mine all the time.

I use my new helmet lock all the time as well. Great piece and not too expensive.

I just leave the toolkit in the garage, shaves a bit of weight off hehe.

1. Buy R3
2. Remove tool kit and substitute with AAA membership card in wallet.
3. Priceless!
