R3 definately wins on paper. Hope RC390 comes out in time for them to really ride it out to compare all of them. If RC390 didn't come out in time the R3 will win regardless since it just has superior forks, brakes, and tires. I guess no one has really test the R3 so it's just a guess and personally when they say 42 HP probably means at crank not at the wheels.

You think so? I don't know the RC has that upside down WP suspension, 4 pot calli up front and 1 pot in back vs the 2 pot calli and 1 pot out back for the R3.

Naturally all that has cost involved. I see the RC as the supersport of the bunch, overqualified if you will...

One has to remember, ON PAPER isn't the be all and end all.
There will surely be some R3 prospective buyers who once they sit or test ride one of the rivals will actually prefer the rival. It can come down to looks, riding position, confort, useabiliy, price and just how it makes you feel and how it gives feel back on the road.
It might prove too scary for complete beginners who will likely prefer the Honda.
Hardcore track riders might prefer the RC....

I am not going to base my decision on which is the fastest... I can just get a bigger faster bike for not much more if that was the case.
For me, the bike has to tick a lot of boxes and I do honestly believe it wll be the R3 - just not going to assume it is the right bike for me, come the time.

Correct, the specs doesn't show everything. It is always best to test ride your bike before buying since it determine how the seating comfort, the feel of the bike, cons, and etc... Of course, first bike are usually rarely tested because the new rider doesn't obviously know what to expect from a good bike vs a bad bike. Therefore, they use the spec sheet to determine their first bike purchases.
