Hmm, Color Changes.....I was actually thinking of ordering a 'raven' OEM part to place to replace the center tank cover from the silver I have, to the black from the red/raven (while keeping the blue sides to the tank cover).

I think it'll look pretty slick.

Now all you need now is the flush mount turns in the front and that would be off the hook! Love it!
Yes I agree the turn signals totally ruin the look but it will do for now
Sexy, absolutely nailed it :)
Looks fantastic bro, nice work!
Permanent or peelable?
Peelable :) but I'm really digging this look.. so I'm thinking to get fairings painted this same way

Painted with Factory Red and White!

I've been planning on painting the black plastic panels since I first saw the R3 in a magazine last September. Color Rite paint was used ($$$!) for an exact match to the red and pearl white. 10 coats of two different primers, base color, top color and clear coats, followed by a week of cure time and over 15 hours of hand polishing resulted in this...

You can also see the other mods--tail tidy, led turn signals (TST Industries), lowered clip-ons, bar ends, rear stand spools, removed the chain sprocket cage, removed all warning/government stickers, and tire valve caps. I still have to polish and re-install the inner fairing panels in front of the engine, so no photos showing any front angles yet. Rear sets are on the way. What do you guys think?

Looks great to me!
looks pretty good, Im going to do the same thing to mine with the black parts except im not doing the whole bike, i was just going to do the tail and the piece of plastic over the chain.
What a difference you paint job makes! The paint design now looks more cohesive. Good job.
If the red came like that from the dealer I would jump on that color! Looks fantastic!

Great job!! Bike loox AWESOME. When dropping your clip-ons below the top triple, did you have to do anything to keep your throttle cables from rubbing the inner fairings? Can you post pix of the throttle housing at full left and right lock?
I don't like red but the way you did it makes me like red!
Great work!
Totally badass dude, and props to you for doing it right and putting in the time, painting is SOOO time consuming!!

I don't know about this duder, but I wound up lowering the bars to the point where the throttle cables would hit.. and then went lower. I wound up rotating the throttle assembly and drilling a new indexing hole for the assembly. I don't know if everyone else is doing this, but i decided to keep the bar locating bolts as well to keep them at the stock angle... but instead of the locating bolt going down through the ear on the bar clamps to the top triple tree, I machined some stainless spacers and got some longer M6 bolts for them to bolt UP through the ears into the bottom of the top triple tree. It looks nice and keeps everything firmly mounted. I wound up rotating the throttle assembly to the point where the cables exit over the top of the brake assembly. Which is probably a bit far for some, but I like how it hides the starter switch :)

"Removed all warning/government stickers."

Careful, the "stickertards" will come out in force telling you that you're going to go to jail because you removed those stickers and that you'll never be able to resale your R3."
