Track Tire choices

So with any small bikes track tires choices are very limited.
I know there is always the trusty and economical Diablo Rosso II
Then there's the new Supercorsa SC which some people are using already.
Then Dunlop came out with the Alpha 13s which I haven't seen people use yet other than supermoto guys.
Then there's the old Bridgestone BT003s

So if you have any opinions/experience with tires you like, please post them for rough data purposes :D:D

Heard Bridgestone dropped the BT03's - I ran a set on the Ninja 250 two full race seasons and still had tire left - those things wear like iron and I never had a problem with grip. I plan to run the Pirelli's on the R3, then see what the track tire guy throws out as a suggestion.
I'm with Stirz. I have the BT003's on my ninja 2-fitty track bike. They have 1 1/2 seasons on them with plenty'o tread left. I use tire warmers, and never had any problems with traction. I would definitely buy them again.
Interesting, all of the ninja 250 racers here in washington said it had too much drama. It could be the weather here is much cooler normally. Here they seem to ditch them as soon as the pirellis came out.
I'm using the Supercorsa 110 front and Rosso II 140 rear, but Pirelli will be releasing a Supercorsa 140 rear this fall, so I'll switch to that.
You should be able to find the BT-090 since it's the OEM tire for the DRZ400SM and the WR4?? motard they did a couple years back. Fantastic race tire. I used them on my GS500e and SV650. Love them.
Just remember, if you run the Super Corsa you will not want to run in the wet with them. They may be considered "DOT", but they are really just slicks with some siping cut in them. They suck for grip in the wet. I know this for a fact from racing my SV.

Yeah, we don't have rain in San Diego lol, no worries on that one for me...

Does your local pirelli track vendor not carry them? I know up here in washington/oregon they've had them since May

has what, the new Supercorsa 140 rear? It's been awhile since I talked to him, maybe he has them by now, not sure.

Same here, been racing on DR2's for 2 yrs.
as that's the ASBK production racing 250/300 Homologation tyre of choice,
27psi rear/31 front on the warmers.
As the day gets hotter and the tyre starts working well I'll drop to 26/30.
R3 seemed to like them 2 weeks ago and they were old well worn ones I used.

Dry track days I throw a SC1 front on as not allowed to use it for racing.
(allegedly I may or may not have snuck one on for a race or three :p )

I notice far better feel with the SC front but its hopeless when its wet.

Cant wait to get my hands on the 140 as I dislike the 150,, just wont work on 250's as cant keep the heat.
See less See more
Hopefully crashed R3's start coming up at auction so I can get a set of wheels and stretch a 100 Front/ 125 Rear Moto3 wets on as backup.

If a race is declared wet, we're allowed to run them and then the frantic work to swap.

Going to have to secure the rear caliper with T bolts and machine up a dummy stub to insert into the RHS
ABS makes it even more of a clusterfuck to do quick wheel changes,
you almost need three ppl who have practiced the exact procedure to do it fast without hiccups.

Yeah the Supercorsa 140. Quite a few people are running them now.
I don't know if it will be available for regular consumers anytime soon if they aren't on track
