Is it really necessary to change oil every 3000miles?

I am using the MT03 as a commuter could I just go with 5000mls?

I use Castrol Power 1 10w40 Fully synthetic

I change my oil every 5000 kms, which is around 3100mls along with the oil filter, have always stuck to the recommended grade of 10w40 and always fully synthetic oil only, and always the better of the brands, like motul, amsoil, putoline etc, basically whatever’s available, but fully synthetic and same grade, have done 35k kms and all’s well upto now, even mine’s a daily runner/commuter.
Infact what I have come to know, a daily runner/commuter suffers a lot more in stress and wear-tear due to slower speeds and constant usage of clutch/brake, compared to the weekend ridden/open highway bikes.

its pretty conflicting. If I read the Thai manual it says 5000km
If I read the European manual it says till oil flashes.

Thai manual

EU manual

The oil change flash happens at 5000kms in my R3, so yes the Yamaha manual has universally 3000ml/5000kms oil change interval for R3, for fully synthetic, but then there are some very specialised oils, like the top of the line Putoline N-tech Pro R+ which a lot of my buddies use in their Kawasaki’s, which claim to run 12k kms/ 7k mls between changes..

Do it when the light flashes (every 5'000km), doesn't matter if it's a commuter bike. In fact, I'd argue that it should be done more frequently if the oil doesn't get up to temp (short commute) & you do a lot of stop and go driving.
