Curious if anyone knows what else will be upgraded on the R3 over the R25.

Or will it simply be the 300cc version of the R25? Kind of like how the CBR300 is to the CBR250.

They haven't announce anything official but it's probably like the CBR250 to CBR300 or Ninja 250R to Ninja 300. More power, different in product being put together on the bike, and so fourth. (The usual)

So will it look any different other than the badge? Seems to me that the two bikes will be identical except for the engine in them. Is there anything that would be offered on one that would not on the other?

Totally forgot about that, you might be right. A 3 cylinder will be nice to have. Always loved how the FZ-09's triple sounded, we need something like that on a lower end bike

If the R3 is indeed a 3-cylinder does that mean that the r25 would be sold in NA even though it would be competing against 300cc bikes from other brands?

If it comes to USA then the R25 would probably gear toward more of the 250cc racing class and competing against Ninja 250R and CBR250. While the 300cc R3 would be more of a starter bike competing against Ninja 300, CBR300, and RC390.

I think at the moment we are waiting for the breaking truth of the three cylinder equipped in the R3. it would go along just fine with the name and imagine just how it would sound

Triple will be amazing. I have my money on it, especially with info on Yamaha plans to expand on triples into various segments

Seems like they want to cut costs where ever they can while still making a great bike, wouldn't be surprised if it won't be a new engine. As long as it performs good wont mind.

maybe it will just be a slightly taller block with higher compression pistons?

It could be that or things along the lines of it. not always do they use new engines but instead use a current engine and improve it for new bikes.

It didn't happen on the launch. They are probably waiting for EICMA 2014.

Yeah likely thats when it will happen, but thats a long way from now, better late than never i guess
