my local Yami shop thought I was cracked when I walked in and asked about R3. I then asked about the R25 and they said, what, the little Japanese thing? TERRIBLE.

The R3 trademarks were registered only in Europe, Oceania and North America so that should be a good indication of Yamahas intentions...

Dealers don't know anything about it until it's going to arrive. So I don't even bother with them until Yamaha official announce launch date in USA.

Through my experience it's not often that dealers will be on top of things and know whats coming out in the future. it'll happen

It's pretty high that R3 will come to USA. A good business never leaves crumble on the table and Yamaha always comes through as a good business.

Report on motorcycle sales in USA:

They will want some of it too.
Good read. Reading that reminded me how expensive vespa's are but then again they are also a bit of a fashion statement as well. Still not a bad combo for someone looking for exactly that, it's just not for me.

It's kinda sad that the dealers don't have more information or at least awareness of what is coming out from their company. It is not that surprising though. Enthusiasts are looking for new info all the time. Usually they know more or just as much as a dealer does. I bet they know something more now that the countdown clock is approaching 0, but they aren't going to tell us because its a big secret.

I can't see why they wouldn't "want" to tell you. If anything they they are told that they can't tell you anything about it until Yamaha has official information out. Even if that were the case though, wouldn't they still see a benefit in telling you about the bike. You'd be more likely to come back to them, and they would have generated more interested in you.

would it be possible that they release the r25

and when it comes to north america they do a mini launch for the r3 because its the exact same thing as the r25 but bored out to 300cc?

They are probably gonna release the R25 with spec and announce the R3 for USA/EU but probably without spec until EICMA.
