The seat is annoyingly low. I'm racing the bike and wanted to change the riding position so I designed a tank cover/race seat combo with Hotbodies that raises the stock seat about 1-2" depending on the thickness of foam you use. It's a completely different bike with the taller seat. I still need to test fit this with stock bodywork, I think it will fit because of how it mounts, just would have to be painted to match.

6foot5 and i sit very comfortably on the bike. Sure its not as good as a 600 but its not bad like the ninja300 is. I can get low on the bike too i do receive alot of wind though
I am also 6'5 and I fit perfectly. CBR300r and Ninja 300 were way small, and the KTM RC390 also fit very well. but loved the looks and price point of the R3. Definitely agree with the wind thing, though. I have to tuck in at highway speed or I feel like I'm going to get thrown off the bike.

6'1" 190lbs here. Bike is pretty comfy. Only thing that isn't perfect is my height puts the bars at a longer reach than an average height person. This causes me to hunch over slightly, but not fully forward like a supersport, nor straight up like a standard. More like somewhere in the middle.
This! I'm only 5' 11" and I feel this exact same way. I'm not on top of the tank but not sitting upright either. This causes strain in my wrists when I put my weight on my hands and in my shoulders when I try to move my weight back.

I avoided bigger bikes because I can sometimes be irresponsible with unnecessary amouts of power. Part of me wishes I went with a 650 instead so I could have a full size bike.

I chose the R3 because I haven't ridden in 20 years and wanted something more forgiving. I also loved the cheap entry price.
I am liking the bike and I'm thankful I started with the R3. I immediately realized how out of practice I am when first rode it and was very happy with the decision I made but just a few hundred miles in, I already wish I had something a little larger in size.

hahah you should be find in normal wind conditions up to like 80sh but anything over 90 i tuck. The KTM RC390 was too dirtbikish to me in terms of sitting really high. I didnt like how i felt on it but the R3 was perfect. If you move up to a 600 like i plan too defiantly look into the new GSXR600's , now that is comfy!

I was bitterly disappointed after sitting on a new R3 at the dealers recently.
I'm 6'0" with a 34-inch inseam and it was immediately apparent the bike was too small for me.
I currently own a CBR250R and it feels like a Cadillac ergonomically compared to the R3. Traded in a Ninja250R for it because the Ninja was just to darned cramped. The R3 feels even more so.
It's a shame because Yamaha is my favorite company. I've owned 2 other Yamahas, a 250 and a Seca 400 and I've been waiting and waiting for Yamaha to get back into the small-displacement class.
I really thought the R3 was going to be my next bike, but it's just too diminutive.
I think Yami went a little overboard in gearing this bike towards beginning, and smaller, riders.
Now I'm looking at the KTM390RC and CBR500.
I find myself trying to scooch back on the seat on my lady's R3. I'm similar size as you.

I'm 6'2" and I feel comfortable on the R3, although I do sometimes tend to scootch back all the way. Maybe my arms are longer.. if I were to lower the clip on, I'm sure this would help. the only time I really real like I'm too tall for the bike is at highway speeds.. like 65mph or more. The wind hits your chest and can bobble your head. On a windy day, you really need to tuck @ 70mph to not feel it or get fatigued.

You can see me riding here if you're curious how a then 225 lbs 6'2" rider looks on an R3! I'm currently 212lbs! Woohoo! Should be able to go faster, right?! [emoji23]

I'm 6,6 and I have no problems on mine. Idk why people think it's such a small bike. I enjoy riding mine.

I think R3 would be damned cramp for someone who is 6' 5" but that's just me. If I'm 6 5" I wouldn't be riding a R3 LOL just sayin :)

I think it depends on the person. I got my bike just fine, but Idk If it's be cause I have a long torso or not, my legs don't feel cramped. If felt the same as the CBR500R I was going to purchase. The R3 was a better deal and it didn't feel any different than the Honda did.
